NOTED PLEIN AIR ARTIST, Rick Delanty, HONORED BY
L’AUBERGE DE SEDONA AT 5th ANNUAL SEDONA PLEIN AIR FESTIVAL

Sedona’s Picturesque Resort Applauds Artist at Awards Gala

Sedona, AZ (November 3, 2009)

Noted plein air artist, Rick Delanty, was honored this past Friday, October 30th, by L’Auberge de Sedona, one of the Southwest’s foremost resorts nestled on the banks of Oak Creek in Sedona’s renowned Red Rock Country. For the respected L’Auberge Presenting Sponsor Award, the hotel selected Rick Delanty’s masterful artwork “Sedona Autumn,” depicting the spectacular fall colors of Oak Creek. Delanty received the award at the “Sumptuous Evening with the Artists” gala. The painting will be added to the resort’s extensive collection of original plein air art displayed throughout the property.

“We are glad to honor Rick Delanty with this award for his splendid work and are proud to add this painting to our noted art collection,” said Joe Mottershead, general manager of L’Auberge de Sedona. “We are a natural partner for Sedona Art Center’s Plein Air Festival. There could not be a more perfect setting than L’Auberge de Sedona to inspire artists who paint in this unique style.”

The grounds of the newly enhanced L’Auberge de Sedona also offered the perfect setting for the plein air “Quick Draw,” a two-hour outdoor painting session.  Thirty of the finest artists from across the country captured on canvas the resort’s beauty including the unparalleled landscape, newly redesigned creekside, garden and spa cottages and the award-winning L’Auberge Restaurant on Oak Creek, renowned for its romantic charm and delectable cuisine.

Delanty’s work was chosen for the award from a selection of unique plein air paintings completed during the “Quick Draw” competition.  In addition to this honor, the California native has enjoyed accolades such as the “Best of Show” at the 2008 Borrego Springs Invitational and has twice won the San Clemente Paint-Out. Delanty is best known for his expressive, bold brushwork in acrylic and watercolor paintings of landscapes, seascapes, and historical subjects.
